Why D'Taste of Home

Back in March 2024, I gave a talk to my university alumni group titled “Africa’s Rising: Myth or Fact?” We’ve all heard the buzz—Africa’s young population, booming tech scene, and rapid urbanization. But can the continent truly leap from developing to developed in our lifetime? Maybe not just yet—but real impact is possible with the right policies. After all, China lifted 800 million people out of poverty in just 40 years (World Bank)!

With over 1.5 billion people, Africa needs explosive year-on-year GDP growth—and manufacturing is key. For too long, Africa has exported raw materials (think oil, cocoa, lithium, cashew) only to buy back the finished goods. This cycle fuels trade deficits and unemployment.

That’s where D'Taste of Home comes in. We're flipping the script—adding value to Africa’s natural bounty and creating tasty, high-quality products for global markets. From spices and coffee to snacks and candies, we’re sharing a flavorful slice of home with the world.
